Rental Property Registration
Welcome and thank you for participation in the City of Freeport Rental Registration Program!
If you simply need to pay your fee you can click on the Paypal or PSN link below and enter the number of units and pay. You can also still mail in or drop off your payment too. Thank you!
You will be able to pay online for an additional fee, pay at City Hall (credit/debit cards additional fee), or mail a check or money order (no cash please) to: Community Development (Attn: Heather Lancaster), 524 W Stephenson St, Freeport, IL 61032.
If you have previously registered your information it will all be saved under your account and you will receive a notice by mail and email (if provided) in the next week.
For your convenience, we will be providing your user name and password by email AND mail if your information is on file from last year. If you have not registered previously, you will need to create a new account.
The deadline to register rental properties is June 1st, 2016 .
The fee structure is $19 per unit (ie: single-family=$19, 2-unit=$38, 3-unit=$57, etc.)
If you have a multi-unit building you will be responsible for registering and paying for each unit, regardless of whether it is vacant or not.
LOCAL AGENTS and MANAGERS are NOT allowed to register properties. The owner is responsible for completing rental registration, verifying information, and electronically attesting they have done so. You will be required to log in online to register properties (no more paper forms).
As always, you can contact Mike Lehman at 815-599-5856, located at the Police Department, or Heather Lancaster at 815-801-2259, located at City Hall in the Community Development Department, for specific help. You can also go to the library, a family member, or friend for internet access.
If you do not receive a direct communication from the City of Freeport regarding registering your rental property, it does not relieve you of your responsibility to register your rental property.
If there are further questions, please feel free to contact the following people:
Michael Lehman, Residential Rental Property Freeport Police Department Liaison
