City Treasurer – Linda L. Buss

Linda L. Buss was originally elected on April 20, 1993 and took office on May 1, 1993 for her first four-year term. She was re-elected in 1997, 2001, 2005, and 2009. Her current term expires April 30, 2013.

Buss is a graduate of Shannon High School (Shannon, Illinois), Highland Community College, (Freeport, Illinois) and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Illinois University (Macomb, Illinois). She is a 1998 graduate of the Highland Community College Leadership Institute.

Due to the ever-changing rules and regulations regarding her position, Buss has participated in many educational and professional programs, seminars, and workshops. She has attended the State Treasurer’s Public Investors Financial Symposium and numerous Annual Conferences for both the Illinois Public Pension Advisory Committee and the Illinois Professional Police and Fire Association.

In 1995 Buss completed the three-year program of professional education for municipal treasurers conducted by Eastern Illinois University. In 1996, Buss then completed the education and experience requirements needed to become a “Certified Illinois Municipal Treasurer”. She has since been re-certified in 2000, 2004, and 2009.
