Police Chief – Jerry Whitmore

Chief Whitmore joined the Freeport Police Department in 1988 and was appointed to the position of Police Chief in August 2002. Prior to becoming chief he held several positions within the department including Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Detective, Detective Corporal, Emergency Response Team Member/Team Leader/Commander, Patrol Sergeant and Detective Lieutenant.

He is a graduate of the University of Illinois Police Training Institute and the FBI National Academy. During his career with the department he has attended several training courses including Critical Incident Command, Supervision of Police Personnel, Leadership Development, Community Policing and Criminal Investigations.
