City Council Member – Tom Klemm, 1st Ward
Elected 2007 and 2011 Tom Klemm is a Freeport native and has lived in Freeport for over Tom is a U.S. Marine Corps Viet Nam veteran and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. He has been affiliated with many Freeport Community projects, from coaching youth sports, to spending summers at Theater in the Park, to supporting major fund raising campaigns. Tom graduated from the Highland Leadership Institute inaugural class in 1992 and served on the Freeport School Board for 8 years (2 years as President). Tom is employed by Johnson Controls and works from their Rockford office. Tom has been a council member since 2005 and, through his position, serves as a board member on NIDA (economic development). He enjoys working with all of the residents of Freeport and can be seen attending various Neighborhood Watch Meetings, Planning and Zoning Commission meetings and serves as a council representative on the Building Commission. In summary Tom said, "I always look forward to serving the citizens of the 1st ward and helping to move Freeport successfully into the future."
